Cillian Murphy will compete in the Lead Actor category at the BAFTAs this year.

In addition, he was nominated for his performance as the leader of the Peaky Blinders clan, Tommy Shelby.

Murphy will finally receive recognition for his work in the six seasons of the critically acclaimed crime drama. The period television drama aired its final episode in February 2022.

Meanwhile, Gary Oldman is another first-timer who is competing for the Lead Actor award alongside Murphy.

Oldman is nominated for his role as spy Jackson Lamb in the Apple TV+ show Slow Horses.

Meanwhile, other nominees in the Best Actor category include Ben Whishaw for This Is Going To Hurt and Martin Freeman for The Responder.

Chaske Spencer is nominated for his performance in The English and Taron Egerton earns his nomination for Black Bird.

In addition, the Mission Anthropoid actress was nominated for the Rising Star award at the Film Awards back in 2007 as well.

Meanwhile, rumors are swirling that a film adaptation of Peaky Blinders is possibly in the works. But the show’s actor Daryl McCormack denied knowing anything about the project.

He simply said, ‘It’s something I haven’t heard of. I’ve been asked many times but I haven’t heard any news about that yet.’

Cillian Murphy is set to star in Small Things Like These

Cillian Murphy is preparing for the lead in the film called ‘Small Things Like Thess.’ The film will be an official adaptation of Claire Keegan’s acclaimed novel of the same name.

Additionally, Murphy will serve as a producer on the film alongside Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s Artists Equity.

The Inception actor shared his excitement for the project while recently talking to Deadline.

He said, ‘I am very honored and delighted to have the opportunity to bring Claire Keegan’s wonderful novel to the screen.’

Afterwards, he said, ‘We have assembled a great team of creative people to make this film, and we have found exceptional partners in EU, a studio led by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck – actors and filmmakers that I respect. on them for many years.’

Murphy will be another part of director Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer.’ It is scheduled to hit the theaters on July 21, 2023.
