Iran says its officials attend in an advisory role in Syria at the invitation of Damascus. Thousands of members of the Revolutionary Guards including senior officers were killed in Syria during the war.

“Meqdad Mehghani was injured during a Zionist attack at dawn on Friday and was martyred,” Mehr News said.

Friday’s air strike, Israel’s sixth attack in Syria in March according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, killed a military adviser and another Revolutionary Guards officer, Milad Haydari.

The Revolutionary Guards vowed to respond to the Israeli attack on Friday.
